Denim Dogs Fashion Blast Ambassadorable: Franky the Training Dog

By M.G.Mauney

Meet Franky, a former bundle of trouble turned trick dog, one of our DogStars for the Mister Migs Denim Dogs Fashion Blast!

Franky

Franky the Rat Terrier is a Certified Trick Dog (CTD) who teaches other dogs how to do tricks! He and his mom work as a dog-training team at the Canine Country Academy in metro Atlanta.  Franky is the “demo dog” that shows student dogs how to perform various tricks and trials as they train through each step.

Intelligence and high-energy are standard for Rat Terriers and Franky is no exception. When Franky was a just a pup his mom realized that Franky needed challenge and thus channeled his energy into learning tricks.  He went from problem pooch to a happy and fun Franky. Many dogs are left at shelters simply because their owners do not realize that all they need is a positive and fun outlet for their high energy. Today, Franky knows and performs over 15 different commands and is certified by the Kyra Sundance Team, the official sanctioning and organizing body for the sport of dog tricks.

Some of Franky’s favorite tricks are spinning on command and leaping over, through and under various objects, hoops and platforms.  Franky is also trained to find specific scents on command like drug detection dogs or search and rescue dogs. Franky can run agility courses too which he loves to do just for fun!

Franky’s mom realized that since trick-training worked so well with Franky that she and Franky would try to help other dogs too.  She’s now earned the Bronze Medal Trainer Award and holds the Certified Behavior Consultant Canine-Knowledge Assessed (CBDT-KA) certification. She and Franky are even working with some of our DogStars for the Mister Migs Denim Dogs Fashion Blast this November. Come meet Franky, the dog-training dog, to see tricks and experience a real treat!

Denim Dogs Fashion Blast Ambassadorable: Razzles the Agility Champion

By M.G.Mauney

Meet Razzles, a beautiful Bearded Collie Agility Champion, one of our DogStar Models for the Mister Migs Denim Dogs Fashion Blast!

Bearded Collie

Razzles dazzles as a reigning Bearded Collie Agility Champion who will soon be competing on the world stage. This agility DogStar holds an amazing list of titles and certificates. She won both Standard Agility and Jumping with Weaves Title at the Bearded Collie Club of America (BCCA) National Specialty Competition last September. In August 2015 she won the United States Dog Agility Association (USDAA) Biathlon event, qualifying her to compete in the USDAA World Agility Games in October. Her American Kennel Club Titles include AX (Agility Excellent), AXJ (Agility Excellent Jumper), CGC (Canine Good Citizen), and HIC (Herding Instinct Certificate). One of Razzles secrets to success is her online agility coursework with World Champion agility expert Silvia Trkman, who trains in Slovenia. You may have thought that online courses were just for college students!

Razzles’  registered name is "Shadowfax's Lone Star Belle," and call name is “Razzle Bella,” but her human father likes to call her The Amazing Goofus McGee.  “She’s just a big clown at heart who loves having fun,” says dad. “We never know what she’s going to do next to make everyone laugh!”

One thing is for sure, Razzles loves her agility practice; she gets so happy during training that she barks out of sheer joy! And it’s a good thing because she’s got a lot of training ahead.  Just a few days after you see her on the runway at the Denim Dogs Fashion Blast Nov. 7 she will compete in the UKI US Open (another agility competition). Come see Razzles in her modeling debut and rocking some fabulous Mister Migs denim dog gear on the runway!

Denim Dogs Fashion Blast Ambassadorable: Bart the Biker Dog

By M.G.Mauney

Meet Bart, Tail-waggin tuff Terrier and one of our DogStar Models for the Mister Migs Denim Dogs Fashion Blast!

Biker Bart

Bart the Biker Dog is a tough little terrier mix that loves riding motorcycles. The roar of his dad’s Harley is music to his ears! It’s no wonder Bart loves bikes; his first motorcycle ride marked the beginning of a new and better life after a rough beginning. Bart was born in a puppy mill, discovered and rescued from there by a shelter, and then adopted by his father. His new dad tucked him inside his jacket and they both took off on the Harley to his new home. Ever since, Bart is dedicated to two things in life: bikes and his father! He now rides behind his dad in a custom sidecar with a 3-part harness and goggles, designed and made for Bart by his dad. Bart’s natural mohawk completes his tail-waggin’ tuff look as they ride the road together.

Angel Soft

Bart and his dad share another common interest—TV and film! Bart got the role of the naughty canine wrapped in Angel Soft toilet tissue in the Angel Soft commercial. They both had fun playing hippie protestors in the movie Dirty Grandpa. His dad appears frequently on the hit show Walking Dead, walking (not riding) the streets as a zombie.  Come meet this motorcycle-loving tough terrier mix and his zombie/biker/model father at the Mister Migs Denim Dogs Fashion Blast!

Denim Dogs Fashion Blast Ambassadorable: Logan the Skateboarding Powderpuff!

By M.G. Mauney

Meet Logan, the Chinese-Crested-Powderpuff-Skateboarder, and one of our DogStar models for the Mister Migs Denim Dogs Fashion Blast!

Zooming into our DogStars lineup next is Logan, the skateboarding sensation! This Chinese Crested Powderpuff might be small but he’s no toy. He’s a top-notch trick dog, medical alert dog, and more! Logan was named after Wolverine of the X-Men (his secret identity is “Logan”) and he’s just as much a hero. His mother has a heart condition and realized when Logan was only a puppy that he could sense when something was wrong even before she knew it. Logan would come to her side and put his head on her lap to alert her. Now he’s trained as her medical alert dog and goes everywhere with her. Obviously he’s one sharp pooch, so she began training him as a trick dog too. Logan is so smart that he learned his trademark skateboarding technique in just two days!

In addition to being a medical alert dog and trick dog, Logan regularly visits seniors at the Westbury Nursing Home and works as a Reading Assistance dog to help children learn to read with confidence.  And, Logan sports the American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizen Award and competes in obedience trials and AKC rallies. Just recently he won the obedience competition at the Dog Days of McDonough!

Logan lives with his human family and his pet siblings: a cat, Great Dane, a border terrier, an Australian shepherd, a Bengal cat and bunny rabbit. Confident and friendly, he’s eager to meet everyone.

The Westin Hotel Buckhead announced earlier this month that it has come on board as the official hotel for the event, scheduled for Saturday, 7 November 2015 at Ambient Plus Studio in Midtown Atlanta. Arel Group Wine and Spirits, Atlanta-based distributors of the Candoni de Zan family wines, is the official wine provider for the event. The Pet Resorts in Dunwoody and Atlanta Dog Trainer in Alpharetta have also offered support.

“We are overwhelmed by the generous support from the Atlanta business community for our first fundraising event,” said Karen Lynn, founder and president of WOW In-Sync, Mister Migs’s parent company. “Through their generosity, we can not only show how Mister Migs’s products celebrate dogs and their owners, but promote its larger mission to help young adults develop career skills and grow in self-confidence.”

The ticketed event will spotlight couture canine designs from Mister Migs’s debut collection, modeled by local celebrity dogs accompanied by runway models. Other major sponsors include Eidé Magazine, Modern Dog, Pet Pages Atlanta, Factor Women and Star K9. All proceeds from the event will benefit Mister Migs’s mission to provide real-life work experience for marginalized young adults, many with developmental disabilities and autism.

The runway production will be produced by Michelle Lynch, owner of Poshe Productions and Macy’s national show event planner; Star K-9 will provide the four-legged models, including several television and film stars along with show dogs and community heroes.

In addition to the fashion show, event guests will be treated to a dinner with unique cuisine, provided by J'aime Sweets & Savories, live jazz music and a silent auction.
